On October 9, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met with the members of the Parish Council of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Lattaqia.
His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, Very Rev. Raban Boutros Kassis, Patriarchal Delegate in Aleppo and Environs, and members of the Patriarchal Committee for the Endowments participated in the meeting.
First, His Holiness met the members of the Parish Council in Lattaqia and discussed with them the progress in the project of the building of the new church compound in Lattaqia.
Then, he met with the engineers and architects who briefed His Holiness on the plans for the construction of the church. His Holiness blessed the efforts of the parish council and the engineers and instructed them to continue their efforts in order to bring this project to life. His Holiness underlined the importance of building the church and other facilities in Lattaqia to offer the faithful members of our church the possibility to meet in this own church and to have activities as well as gatherings, especially the youth.
