On May 15, 2020, on the occasion of the Feast of the Blessing of the Virgin Mary on the Crops, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Mary Church in Damascus.
Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, and Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, assisted His Holiness during the Holy Qurobo.
His Holiness prayed the special intercessory prayer for the Virgin Mary, and spoke in his sermon about the different feasts that the church celebrates in remembrance of the Virgin Mary and seeking her blessings. He explained how the peasants seek the blessings of the Virgin Mary Mother of God in different stages of their agricultural labor. He also spoke about the importance of man in the eyes of God, and about the laws that the Lord put for the service of man and not inversely.
