On February 19, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II arrived to Homs in a special visit to celebrate the installation of His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs.
Upon his arrival, His Holiness was received by His Eminence Archbishop Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury and the clergy of the Archdiocese as well as crowds of faithful. He presided over the evening prayer at the Lady of the Zunoro Cathedral. In his sermon, His Holiness addressed the faithful of the Archdiocese remembering the late Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh of blessed memory and his achievements during his ministry. He also spoke about the installation of the new Archbishop who will continue the ministry and with his energy and experience will bring new insight to the Archdiocese. At the end of his sermon, His Holiness thanked Very Rev. Fr. Antoun Jarade for his devotion in administrating the Archdiocese as a Patriarchal Delegate and presented him with an icon as a tribute for his dedication.
