Visit of Armenian Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo Massis Zoboyan

On February 25, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Eminence Massis Zoboyan, Armenian Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo, accompanied by MP Gerard Rayisian and members of the Archdiocesan Council, at the Patriarchate Headquarters in Bab Touma – Damascus.
The meeting was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Mor Dionysius John Kawak, Patriarchal Vicar in the Archdiocese of Eastern USA, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
During the meeting, His Eminence thanked His Holiness for his warm welcome and expressed his joy at the good relations that exist between the Syriac Orthodox Church and the Armenian Orthodox Church. His Holiness affirmed that the common history shared by the two churches is manisfested especially with the martyrs of the two churches during the Genocide of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He added that the two churches have a lot of common and most importantly have the same apostolic faith which is the cornerstone over which the church is built and continues to exist. His Holiness and His Eminence also spoke about the current challenges that the faithful face in Aleppo and in Syria in general. They emphasized the role of the church in helping the people remain in their homeland.
