On June 10, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo of the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ to heaven, at St. Georges Patriarchal Cathedral in Danascus.
Their Eminences Archbishops: Anthimos Jack Yacoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, and Mor Boutros Kassis, Patriarchal Assistant, assisted His Holiness in the Holy Qurobo.
In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the Feast of the Ascension and the period of forty days following the resurrection when the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to His disciples and strengthened them, encouraging them to learn about the kingdom of God. He encouraged them to go forth and preach the gospel to the entire world. The disciples were happy during this period because the Lord was among them and they became witnesses to the resurrection thus confirming their Christian mission to convey the good news to all nations. His Holiness invited the faithful to live the Christian teachings in their daily lives so that they become witnesses through their deeds which reflect the truth of their faith and their response to God’s calling for them.
