Meeting for Lebanon – Vatican

On July 1st, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II answered the invitation of His Holiness Pope Francis to the Heads of Churches in Lebanon to a meeting of prayer and meditation on the situation of Lebanon, at the Apostolic Palace in The Vatican. At the beginning of the meeting, their Holinesses, Beatitudes and the accompanying delegations met at St. Peter Basilica to pray for Lebanon. They recited the Lord’s prayer and lit candles at the tomb of St. Peter. They then moved to the Apostolic Palace to meet and discuss the situation of Lebanon with His Holiness Pope Francis. They exposed the diverse points of view and the obstacles that do not allow the country to progress. They exchanged their ideas about the ways to find solutions for the crises and allow Lebanon to enjoy stability and progress again.His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Justinos Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary.
