On August 15, 2021, on the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at the Grotto of the Holy Zunoro at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya.His Holiness was assisted by His Eminence Archbishop Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, in the presence of His Eminence Archbishop Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the virtues of the Virgin Mary. He pointed out that the Virgin’s obedience is a great virtue that we can learn from; it is an important virtue in the life of the church, through which we can live other virtues like humility, love, charity and self-giving. He reminded the important places where the holy zunoro was kept, from India to Edessa and then Homs where it was discovered by the late Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem I Barsoum. At the end of his sermon, His Holiness emcouraged the faithful to pray and to seek the intercession of the Virgin Mary Mother of God, that the Lord may spread His peace in all the world.
