On September 19, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Aphrem Cathedral in Sweden.His Holiness was assisted by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Dioscorus Benjamin Atas, Patriarchal Vicar in Sweden, Mor Dionysius Issa Gurbuz, Patriarchal Vicar in Switzerland and Austria, Mor Philoxenus Mattias Nayis, Patriarchal Vicar in Germany, Mor Julius Hanna Aydin, Director of Foreign Relations in Germany, Mor Polycarpus Augin Aydin, Patriarchal Vicar in Holland, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the importance of being watchful in the spiritual ministry that we offer. He also pointed out that the true shepherd will lead the flock by carrying the cross and walking in the footsteps of the Lord. He added that the spiritual joy is great in the celebration of the silver episcopal jubilee of His Eminence Mor Dioscoros Benjamin Atas who serves the faithful by self sacrificing and giving. He emphasized that the success of the ministry of the true shepherd is in his work and watchfulness in the field of the church and offering all he has for the benefit of the church. On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of His Eminence Mor Dioscoros Benjamin Atas, His Holiness presented him with a cross as a token of appreciation for his ministry. His Eminence spoke about being proud of the Syriac Orthodox Church and of carrying the cross of the ministry to be able to bring forth spiritual fruits. He also thanked the priests and lay people who assist him in the spiritual service of the people. The parish priest Fr. Youssef Atas expressed his thankfulness for His Holiness for blessing the faithful of the Patriarchal Vicariate in Sweden on this special occasion.
