On October 16, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II arrived to Hama in his first apostolic visit to the city. His Holiness was received at Mor Jacob of Serugh Church by his Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs and the clergy who serve the parish.His Holiness presided over the Ramsho prayer. He was accompanied by his Eminence Archbishop Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director. His Excellency Nicolas Baalbaki, Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Hama, Rev. Fr. Alexander Al-Turk, Syriac Catholic Priest in Hama, and MP Maher Qawarma, were also present in the evening prayer. At the end of the prayer, His Eminence Archbishop Matta welcomed His Holiness in his first apostolic visit to Hama and expressed his joy and the happiness of the parishioners to receive His Holiness on this special day that the Lord has made to rejoice and celebrate. His Holiness thanked the Lord for granting the opportunity to visit the historical city of Hama, especially the church of Mor Jacob of Serugh on the year of his 1500 jubilee.
