On October 23, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II arrived to Paris starting his first apostolic visit to the Syriac Orthodox churches in France. His Holiness was received by his Eminence Archbishop Mor George Kourieh, Patriarchal Vicar in Begium, France and Luxembourg, and the clergy who serve the parish.He was accompanied by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director. His Holiness presided over the evening prayer (ramsho) at Mor Severius Church in Paris. He was received by the kids who welcomed him with hymns and chants. At the end of the prayer, Very Rev. Raban Zakay Jalma welcomed his Holiness and the accompanying delegation. He thanked him for his visit which enlightened the lives of the faithful of the parish. His Eminence Mor George Kourieh thanked his Holiness for his visit which strengthens the faithful and gives them hope in their lives. In his speech, His Holiness thanked the Lord for this opportunity to visit Mor Severius church in Paris, remembering how this parish was formed and the challenges it faced. His Holiness emphasized that, when the parishioners unite and collaborate together, they are able to build their community and allow it to grow, preserving thus the faith that our predecessors have dearly protected and our martyrs shed their blood to keep and to transmit it to us.
