Visit to St John the Baptist Church in Liege

On November 24, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II presided over the evening prayer at St. John the Baptist Church in Liège – Belgium.Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor George Kourieh, Patriarchal Vicar in Belgium, France and Luxembourg, Mor Dioscoros Benjamin Atas, Patriarchal Vicar in Sweden, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, were also present at the evening prayer.At the end of the prayer, Very Rev. Fr. Aphrem Damar welcomed his Holiness and the accompanying delegation. He thanked him for his long-awaited visit. His Eminence Mor George Kourieh thanked his Holiness for his visit which strengthens the faithful and gives them hope in their lives. In his speech, His Holiness thanked the Lord for this opportunity to visit the parish of St. John the Baptist in Liege, remembering the challenges this parish faced. His Holiness emphasized that, when the parishioners unite and collaborate together, they are able to build their community and allow it to grow. At the end of the service, His Holiness offered a pectoral cross to Fr. Aphrem in recognition of his devotion in his ministry for many years.
