On November 9, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met His Excellency Mr. Valeryi Falkov, Russian Minister of Higher Education, at the headquarters of the Ministry in Moscow. His Holiness was accompanied by His Eminence Archbishop Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Dr. Youssef Al-Youssef, as well as the Syrian Ambassador to Russia Mr. Riyad Haddad. His Holiness discussed with His Excellency the different ways to support education in Syria; they also spoke about the educational projects that the Patriarchate is doing, especially Antioch Syrian University.
