On December 11, 2021, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at the Lady of the Girdle (Zunoro) Cathedral in Homs.He was assisted by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, Mor Boutros Kassis, Patriarchal Assistant and Patriarchal Delegate of the Archdiocese of Aleppo and Environs, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.During the Qurobo, His Holiness prayed the special service of the departed bishops for the 1st year commemoration of the passing away of Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, of blessed memory.In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the life of Mor Selwanos and his love for the church as well as his ministry to the poor and needy. He mentioned his life-long service to all those who sought his help. He was a loving father to all and encouraged his people during their suffering. His Eminence Mor Timotheos presented his Holiness with a book dedicated for the memory of the late Archbishop Selwanos which includes a brief overview on his life as well as the diverse letters and interviews that were sent offering condolences over his death.
