On January 16, 2022, on the occasion of the Feast of the Blessing of the Virgin Mary on the Sowing (15 January), His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo at St. Mary Church in Damascus. Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Cyril Babi, Patriarchal Vicar of the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, and Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, assisted His Holiness during the Holy Qurobo which was attended also by His Eminence Archbishop Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.In his sermon, His Holiness spoke about the calling of the Lord Jesus to His disciples to follow Him and indeed they learned from Him the mysteries of the Kingdom of God, in preparation for their preaching of the Gospel. He also spoke about the feast of the blessing of the Virgin Mary on the Sowing which is put by the church fathers inspired by everyday life of the people, especially the farmers. He pointed out to the virtues of the Virgin Mary who accompanied the Lord throughout His life. His Holiness emphasized that salvation is only through Christ but the Saints intercede for us through their prayers for our sake.
