On May 5, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II arrived to Erbil in an apostolic visit to the Archdiocese of Mor Matta Monastery. His Holiness was received at Erbil International Airport by their Eminences: Mor Timotheos Moussa Al-Shamani, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mor Matta Monastery, and Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk, Kurdistan and Environs, and their Excellencies: Mr. Ano Jawhar Abdoka, Minister of Public Transportation and Communications in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Mr. Fares Jawhar, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Endowments, representing Mr. Pishtwan Sadek, Minister of Endowments in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Mr. Omid Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Mr. Rami Siyawesh, Interim Mayor of Ankawa, Mr. Khalid Talia, General Director of the Christian Affairs in the Ministry of Endowments, and Mr. Amil Stephan Melhem, Counselor of the Minister of Endowments.He was accompanied by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for the Affairs of Monks and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
