Feast of St Peter and St Paul

On June 29, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II celebrated the Holy Qurobo for the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul at St. Severius Church in the Patriarchal Residence in Atchaneh – Lebanon.

Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun, Patriarchal Vicar and Director of the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, and Mor Severus Roger Akhrass, Patriarchal Vicar for Syriac Studies, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, attended the Holy Qurobo.

In his sermon, His Holiness called the faithful to contemplate the lives of the apostles St. Peter and St. Paul as well as the rest of the apostles, and learn from them how to have strong faith and keep the orthodox teaching. He pointed that St. Peter was known for his strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and he followed the Lord, carrying the cross until he was crucified with his head downwards. His Holiness added that evangelization should be based on our knowledge of Christ Whom we serve and we should be ready to sacrifice for the sake of preaching the gospel. On the apostle St. Paul, His Holiness spoke the change of heart that transformed him from a persecutor to a preacher and defender of faith. We learn from him the importance of being diligent in preaching. At the end of the sermon, His Holiness emphasized the importance of holding firm to our faith and live according to the teachings of the Lord which were transmitted to us by our forefathers.
