On June 14, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received a Russian delegation led by His Excellency Mr. Andrey Nikolaevich, Russian Deputy Minister of Health and her Excellency Mrs. Natalia Alexandernovna, Russian Deputy Minister of Higher Education, at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya.
Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, were also present in the meeting.
His Holiness welcomed the delegation and appreciated the support that Russia is giving to the people of Syria. He spoke about the recent developments in Syri and pointed out to the importance of supporting education and health. His Holiness spoke also about the role of the Patriarchate in helping the people during these times of poverty.
The delegation visited Mor Aphrem Monastery and Antioch Syrian University where its president Dr Rakan Razouk welcomed them and took them on a tour in the different departments as well as the various laboratories.
In addition, the delegation visited Melqart Pharmaceutical Factory where Dr Marwan Azar gave them a presentation of the factory, its productive linw and how the medical products are manufactured and their quality is controlled.
