Consecration of the Holy Myron at the Armenian Orthodox Church

On July 1st, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II participated in the rite of consecration of the Holy Myron, upon the invitation of his brother in Christ His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Armenian Orthodox Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, at the Headquarters of the Catholicosate in Antelias, Lebanon.

His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences: Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh, Archbishop of Beirut, and Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.

In his speech, His Holiness said that we are filled with great spiritual joy and a great sense of awe as we witness a divine act where the Holy Spirit descends upon the simple oil and transforms it into Holy Myron through which churches and people are consecrated to God. He expressed the great honor he felt to witness the labor of our forefathers who came together as bishops, teachers and scholars of our churches defining our faith and defending it. He emphasized that they praised God together and worked for our people. He said that he is especially inspired by the great witness that our forefathers bare to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, especially during the great genocide of the Armenians and Syriac Sayfo. He also spoke about the solemn occasion to celebrate together the consecration of the Holy Myron and witness the one faith that we share and the one fate that awaits us all whether here in the Middle East and throughout the world. At the end of his speech, he hoped that the consecration of the Holy Myron is a sign of hope for our broken world that we will enjoy peace in the whole world.

Representatives of other churches in the Middle East also attended the rite of consecration of the Holy Myron.
