Installation of Mor Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of Aleppo

On October 15, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II conducted the service of the Installation of His Eminence Mor Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs, at St. Aphrem Cathedral in Aleppo.

The service included a procession where two archbishops escorted the new Archbishop among the people. Then the sustatikon, or the commendation letter, was read proclaiming Mor Boutros Kassis, to be the Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs. His Eminence Mor Boutros Kassis delivered a message where he thanked the Lord for his new responsibility (the text of the speech will be posted in a separate post).

Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Theophilos George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Jazeera and Euphrates, Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, Mor Cyril Babi, Patriarchal Vicar for the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, Armenian Orthodox Archbishop of Damascus Armash Nalbandian, assisted His Holiness in the service.

His Eminence Cardinal Mario Zenari, Apostolic Nuncio in Damascus, the Heads of the Christian Churches in Aleppo: Archbishop George Masri, Greek Catholic Archbishop of Aleppo, Mar Antoine Audo Archbishop of Aleppo of the Chaldeans, as well as Archbishop John Jeanbart and other officials and representatives of the churches also attended the service of the Installation.
