On March 20, 2023, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II inaugurated a spiritual retreat entitled “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth”. (Psalm 145: 18)”, for the Archbishops of the Archdioceses in Syria and Lebanon, at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya.
At the beginning of the retreat, His Holiness welcomed their Eminences, and spoke about the need for spiritual renewal in our ministry and witness to the Lord. He asked the Lord to be near the shepherds abd stewards of the Church and guide them through the different challenges that they face.
The spiritual retreat was attended by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Theophilos George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Justinos Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh, Archbishop of Beirut, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Jazeera and Euphrates, Mor Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs, Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, Mor Severus Roger Akhrass, Patriarchal Vicar for Syriac Studies, Mor Cyril Babi, Patriarchal Vicar for the Patriarchal, Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, and Mor Christophoros Markose, Patriarchal Secretary for the Affairs of the Church in India.
