On September 4, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II officially inaugurated the Suryoyo Youth General Gathering in Syria (SYGG-Syria 2023) at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya – Syria.
The opening was attended by their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Andrawos Bahhi, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education, Mor Nicolaos Matta Abdelahad, Patriarchal Vicar in Spain, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Archbishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, Mor Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Jazeera and Euphrates, Mor Anthimos Jack Yakoub, Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem, Jordan and the Holy Land, Mor Boutros Kassis, Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs, Mor Yacoub Babawi, Patriarchal Vicar for Monks Affairs and the Administration of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya, Mor Cyril Babi, Patriarchal Vicar for the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant, and Mor Augeen Al Khoury Nemat, Patriarchal Secretary, as well as the monks, priests, nuns, seminarians of Mor Aphrem Theological Seminary, and more than 300 youth coming from the four Syriac Orthodox Archdioceses in Syria and from Bethlehem.
The gathering is organized by the Suryoyo Patriarchal Youth Department (SPYD) under the auspices of His Holiness the Patriarch and will take place from 4 to 9 September 2023.
