On September 15, 2024, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II arrived to Erbil in a visit to the Archdiocese of Mor Matta Monastery.
His Holiness was received at Erbil International Airport by their Eminences: Mor Timotheos Moussa Al-Shamani, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mor Matta Monastery, and Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kirkuk, Kurdistan and Environs, and Mr. Omid Khoshnao, Governor of Erbil and Mr. Niaz Saleh Barzani, Head of the Department of External Relations in the Presidency of Kurdistan Region, representing the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Mrs. Lilian Al-Boutros, Head of Staff of the Presidential Secretariate, and Mr. Khaled Jamal Albert General Director of the Christian Affairs at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
He was accompanied by His Eminence Mor Augeen Al-Khoury Nemat, Patriarchal Secretary.
