On January 8, 2025, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met Mr. Henry Wooster, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Principal Near East Affairs, in Washington D.C.
His Eminence Archbishop Mor Dionysius John Kawak, Patriarchal Vicar for the Archdiocese of the Eastern USA, and Mr. Richard Ghazal, CEO of In Defence of Christians (IDC) accompanied His Holiness during these meetings.
During the meeting, His Holiness spoke about the current situation in Syria and emphasized on the importance of lifting the sanctions from the Syrian people. He also conveyed the aspiration of the Syrian people to enjoy peace, security, democracy, justice and equal rights.
